The Mohawk
I chose a hairstyle known as the "mohawk" as my topic because, I think it is a cool hairstyle that is worn by many people and in different ways. I think it is different from most hairdo's we see on the street or wherever. I thought a mohawk showed a lot of visual culture in hairstyles. Even though your hair may not seem like a big deal, most people really care what it looks like. I just thought of how weird it was that whoever wore it first in our time, set a trend and now it is very popular. This interested me and I thought it would be something nice to share.
The mohawk derived from the Iroquois, and is also known as an "Iro". It is named after the Mohawk Nation. The hairstyle is when you shave the sides of your head and leave the middle long. You usually want it to stand up, you would do this by using hair gel or hair spray. This hairdo was then wore by teenagers who were either goth, rebellious, or punk rock. It has now evolved into a very common hair style that is popular and is the hair style choice of a ton of people. It is said to be a high-maintenance hairdo and is said to be innapropriate at formal events. In general you see a lot of men wearing a mohawk, but girls wear it too!

?Questions?
Do you think the mohawk is an innapropriate hairstyle at a formal event? Why or why not
Do you think it is meant for both boys and girls to wear?
Would you consider a mohawk of any sort? (There is a huge variety)

I like the hairstyle the "Mohawk" because its wild. I don't think the hairstyle is inappropriate for a formal event because its all about opinions. If you feel that the "Mohawk is appropriate then its okay to wear.I feel anyone can wear a "Mohawk" boy or girl.I would consider getting a "Mohawk" just to do something different and eccentric.
ReplyDeleteThe mohawk has become very popular. In my opinion, I think that anyone can have a mohawk. Whether they are a girl or a boy. People usually have their own way to express themselves. Also, I do feel that the mohawk can be inappropriate for formal events, but like I said, it is how one can express themselves. People shouldn't judge.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Tarsila that the "Mohawk" has become very popular. I've had a "Mohawk" once, but my hair wasn't shaved, I just had my hair braided going upward. I also believe that the "Mohawk" is a good way to express yourself. Like LaQuandis said, the "Mohawk" is totally appropriate for a formal event, as long as you dress it up not so messy. Your opinion is the only one that matters. In my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe mohawk has become one of the 2nd most popular hairstyles that almost anyone would want. I was considering if would get one.The mohawk shows courage and braveness in my eyes. This is just a hairstyle that any person should want. This is not only for boys, girls also rock it to. And I think they rock it better than boys at some points. So I can infer that all people love the mohawk and I really don't think that it will die out anytime soon. (Antonio)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do think the mohawk is meant for both boys and girls to wear. Anyone can have a mohawk if they want to. No one can tell them that they can't have one. This is can be a way for people to express their personality and express who they are. I have many friends that have mohawks and that's apart of their style. Even many celebrities have mohawks, both girls and boys. So anyone can have a mohawk no matter what their gender is.

me personally i dont believe that the mohawk is innopropriate at formal events because it has become a part of culture. also it is a way for people to express themselves. it doesnt harm anyone and if someone doesnt pay attention to it then it raelly shouldnt bother them. I like the mohawk because it is real crazy and stylish. It raelly isnt for a certain gender. Boys and girls can both wear it the same or differently. There really shouldn't be any contradiction about it because people are going top wear their hair however they want. Shemyra.!
ReplyDeleteJalani-In my opinion I think that the Mohawk should be appropriate for a formal event. I believe this because it shouldn’t really matter what hair style you wear. If people were not so critical, then it should not be a problem. Also, I think that even though it’s a formal event, you should be able to choose to wear whatever hairstyle you want. I think this because it shows that you are an original person that does not care what other people think. In conclusion, I think Mohawks should be appropriate because it brings life and excitement to boring events. An example would be an extremely boring meeting at your job. If you come in wearing a Mohawk, or any other culture related hairstyle, it will bring life in that meeting. That is why I think Mohawks should be appropriate at a formal place.
ReplyDeleteI believe that a Mohawk is both appropriate and inappropriate for a formal event. I think that it is inappropriate because what if it was a funeral. I strongly believe that the people should at least show some respect for the person who passed away, at least they should not put it up. It’s appropriate for lets say a quincernera or even homecoming. A quincernera is more of teen party, so you get to express yourself there, and show of your styles (swag). And same for homecoming it’s a high school formal event, where of course you want to impress people. My main point is that, what really matters is what the event is, because there are many different types of formal events in this world. In conclusion, I believe that a Mohawk is both appropriate and inappropriate, it all just depends on the event. - Nancy L.

ReplyDeleteI think that a Mohawk is apporaite for a formal event because when you go somewhere people dont focus on your hair they focus on the guest and not what they got on. i also think that a Mohawk can be worn by girls and boys beacuse other hair styles can also be worn by girls and boys. for example beads in your hair can be worn by girls and boys.
